The 3rd China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair and Sino-Italy Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF), jointly sponsored by China National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, China Banking Regulatory Commission, and People's Government of Guangdong Province and Italian Ministry of Productive Activities, will be held grandly in Guangzhou, China, from September 15 to 18, 2006.

The 1st and 2nd CSMEF have built up a platform for small and medium enterprises to display their products, promote trade, exchange information, and enhance cooperation in the areas of economic and trade communication, finance and training. 5361 booths were set up in the 2nd China Small and Medium Enterprises Fair and Sino-France Small and Medium Enterprises Fair, with joint sponsorship of relevant French departments. 3522 enterprises from China's 30 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan, and 160 enterprises from France participated in the fair. 198,000 people attended the fair as visitors, exhibitors, or purchasers. 23,000 trade, cooperation or investment agreements were signed, with a total volume of 42.6 billion yuan. The 2nd CSMEF laid a solid foundation for the 3rd CISMEF to become an international economic and trade communication fair with stronger transaction function, richest resources, most complete kinds of commodities, and largest size.
