Mount Lushan

     Mount Lushan locates in the south of the city of Jiujiang, which is in the northern part of Jiangxi Province. It is Poyang Lake in the east and Yangtse River in the north. Mount Lushan is a well-known beautiful scenic area with sheer peaks and precipices, changeable clouds and fogs, silver springs and flying waterfalls, deep valleys and secluded forests. More than 5O0 noted figures in Chinese history have been to the mountain. They have left behind some 4,000 pieces of verses, over 4O0 inscriptions on the cliffs and large quantities of writings, paintings, and calligraphic works. Mount Lushan is thus reputed as "the Kingdom of Prose and Mountain of Poetry". On the mountain there are Buddhist and Taoist temples, Christian and Catholic churches and Islamic mosques. Donglinsi (East Grove Temple) built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (3l7-42O), is the birthplace of Jingtu (Neat Earth) sect of Buddhism. Bailudongshuyuan (White Deer Cave Academy) was one of the four biggest academies in ancient China.

     Mt. Lushan's reputation of being a "cool world" spread far and wide. Guling is much like an exhibition of villas. There are more than 1,000 villas of various styles of some 20 countries, namely, America, British, France, Germany, Russia, Finland, Holland, Austria, Italy, etc.
