National plan for energy-saving vehicles
2010/08/09

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has completed a draft plan on the development of energy-saving and new-energy vehicles, the Shanghai Security News reported last week.

The plan calls for the central government offer more than 100 billion yuan to support development of the sector over the next decade, the report said.

Its blueprint also envisions three to five key new-energy vehicle manufacturers and two to three competitive enterprises producing key components such as batteries and electric motors.

The plan set a goal that by 2020 China's energy-saving vehicles, mainly hybrids, will have annual sales of 15 million units and rank top in the world.
